Patient Testimonials Dear Dr. Jasper and Staff, I don't know if you realize what a blessing you people are to people like myself and many others. For the past three years, I've been to neurosurgeons and so-called pain management doctors, medicated with predisone, percoset and viocotin. What a joke! I had two treatments by you, and two months later I am still 85% better. I sent Gloria F. to your office, who was being treated by the same doctor that was treating me, and same story. After being medicated and in pain for eight months, she was treated in your office and walked out pain free. She can't thank me enough for recommending Dr. Jasper. I met an elderly lady in your office and she was telling the same story. She suffered for five years until she heard about Dr. Jasper. That's something you can be very proud of. Could it be that pain management doctors don't know about your procedure, are too dumb to do your procedure, or do they just say "why cure the patient, then we won't see them every month."? Money! Doctor, I love you and I respect you for relieving my pain after three years. I thank God my son-in-law heard your advertisement over the radio. That is how we found you and I feel more people should know about Dr. Jasper. You will properly need a bigger office, and more doctors. I wish you and your staff all the luck in the world. Dr. Jasper, Thank you for: Your uncommon compassion and healing powers. You have my undying gratitude and sincere thanks. Glenn E. Polasky, 44, was among the first patients in the tri-state area (N.Y., N.J., Pa.) to undergo the HydroDiscectomy procedure nearly seven months ago with Dr. Jasper. "I had tried everything to cure my chronic low back pain, including open surgery. Nothing worked," says Glenn, "from conservative treatments such as exercise and deep-muscle massage, to physical therapy, to prescription drugs and, ultimately, I had an open surgical laminectomy. Even then, my back pain would just never go away. I suffered through this for five long years. Let me tell you: It had a devastating effect on the quality of my life." Then, by chance, Glenn saw am advertisement about the HydroDiscectomy procedure. After consulting with Dr Jasper, Glenn had the HydroDiscectomy procedure performed on September 8, 2005. He returned home that same day and was medically cleared to return to work almost immediately. "I would strongly recommend that, if you have been suffering from chronic lower back pain, you should definitely consult with Dr Jasper about the HydroDiscectomy procedure," adds Glenn. "I have my life back again." Before & After Individual Experiences: Joy Howell Dear Dr. Jasper, I am so grateful!! Individual Experiences: Tony Acierno My name is Tony Acierno. I am a longshoreman. I have been a resident of Staten Island for the past 43 years. In September of 2002 I discovered I had spinal stenosis plus an abdominal aortic aneurysm, (Avecciaia e brutta), which means you don’t know what pops up getting old. For the past 3 years I have progressively worsened. I can’t stand, walk, pain getting up from a chair, cannot get my legs in a comfortable position in bed, pain behind my knees and calves, unable to lift my leg to get into the shower and cannot put my socks or shoes on "yea I was a mess".I went to a pain management doctor and he gave me what I thought was an Epidural Injection on three occasions. I received only 3 weeks of pain relief. I later found out that what he gave me were trigger point injections. In 2004 I went to a neurosurgeon and he told me that I was a high risk for surgery. I was put on Prednisone, Percocet and Vicodin and I was getting addicted. On June 13, 2005, I went to see a doctor in New York City, the Chief of Spinal Surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery. After waiting 3 months for an appointment, same story I was high risk, but if I wanted to do it I would have to go for a special test to see if I could stand the surgery. He explained to me if I could stand the surgery that I would be in the hospital for 3 days. The surgery would take 4 hours and I would have to wear a back brace for 6 months and go to therapy (what a choice). The same day I saw my son in law who heard on the radio about Dr Jasper, I called and made an appointment with their office to see Dr. Gabriele Jasper. On 7/5/05 I went to see Dr. Jasper he was unable to do the procedure that day because I was on Plavix. I was told to stop taking the Plavix and he also explained the procedure he was going to do for me on my next appt. I returned to his office on 7/12/05, I was unable to get out of my son in laws car. My son in law helped me out of the car into the office, helped me take off my clothes and shoes and get onto the procedure table. I did everything with constant pain. Dr. Jasper started the procedure explaining what I was to expect. Fifteen minutes later he slapped me on the ass and said you are done. As god as my judge I got off the table alone with no pain hugged and kissed the doctor with tears in my eyes, dressed myself and walked out of the office with no pain. My son in law remarked "If I didn’t see this with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe it". Today I can honestly say what I was unable to do for 3 years I am able to do today. I can say I am not 100%, but I am 85% better than I was before, I am drug free, and I can take a shower and dress myself with no help, hey at 71 and with no operation. As far as I am concerned the surgeons can put their scalpels on their key chains, "you ain’t cutting me baby".I sent letter to all of the doctors involved in my case asking them how come no one knows about this procedure it has been out for the past 9 years. The only answer I could come up with is to take the scalpel out of the surgeons hand and he would have to become a dentist because wouldn’t one expect a doctor in this filed to keep up with modern technology.I take my hat off to Dr. Jasper and his staff and you can use me as an example anytime, place, anywhere because only me myself and I know what you people did for me. Since I am on a roll, I have been through enough in my life time, I get closer and closer to heaven everyday and in all honesty wouldn’t you say I’m to old for surgery. My son in law is a 39 year old male who had 3 back surgeries and he will never be the same. I could go on and on because I am getting fed up with doctors, so I keep going until I find the right one. Dr. Jasper I am very grateful for what you have done for me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all from your #1 patient. You can use me as an example any time you wish, again (A Vecchiaia e brutta) getting old sucks. Before & After Individual Experiences: Lisa Hall I am 28 years old and employed by N.J. Transit as a senior procurement assistant. Until February of 2004 I led a very active life centered around work, the gym and going out socially in the evenings. Being single I enjoyed the club scene and went out dancing on a regular basis.I have no idea how the injury occurred. It started out feeling like a pulled muscle below my right shoulder but over the next two months the pain intensified to the point where my life was becoming a nightmare. The pain began to shoot down my right arm with increasing intensity and was always present, even when I was at rest. I was not able to do anything. Although the thought of surgery frightened me beyond belief, I went to an orthopedic surgeon to diagnose my problem. He prescribed an M.R.I. that revealed a fairly large herniated disk at the C5 / C6 level in my neck.My fear of surgery prompted me to try various disciplines of medicine that would not steer me toward an operating room table. The epidural injections did not work. Chiropractic adjustments really hurt. Physical therapy was non- productive. The prescribed muscle relaxants were useless and my family doctor was beginning to suggest surgery. To make matters worse, the pain down my right arm had progressed from extreme pain to numbness. I literally now had a dead arm. My fingers felt as though they were encased in ice. When I chanced driving my car, I had to support my arm with a pillow to support its dead weight. I was now without feeling in my dominant arm for one month and was very, very frightened. The mother of a friend called me after seeing an article in the newspaper about GABRIELE JASPER, M.D. The article described a non-surgical procedure that they have been doing that is highly successful in the treatment of herniated discs in the spine. The procedure takes less than thirty minutes to perform and you walk out an hour later with a band-aid on your back. There is little or no down time and physical therapy is not usually necessary. The article encouraged anyone with interest to contact Dr Jasper, toll free, for further information. Obviously this non-surgical, minimally invasive approach to fixing my neck appealed to me and I decided to call them.I was able to get right through and spoke to a gentleman for over thirty minutes. My many questions were patiently answered in a manner that was easy to understand. He forwarded an educational packet so that I could learn more about this procedure called COBLATION NUCLEOPLASTY. Everything that I learned raised my confidence level. There seemed to be no drawback or shortcoming in having the procedure done. The studies showed significant pain reduction in better than 90% of all patients. At this point, I felt comfortable enough to meet with Dr. Jasper for an evaluation. The office was able to schedule a timely appointment and my meeting with Dr. Jasper and his staff was very informative. They seemed to sense my anxiety and immediately put me at ease. I learned that I was a perfect candidate for the procedure and felt assured that Dr. Jasper could help me. With a leap of faith I scheduled the procedure for the following week.Dr. Jasper explained that with COBLATION NUCLEOPLASTY, some patients feel almost immediate relief and some patients respond over a period of days or weeks. In my case, I felt consistently better over the next fourteen days. Each day brought some improvement. One night during the third week, I was awakened with a start out of a dead sleep. My brain had noticed a change in sensation in my arm and hand and as a result, woke me up. It was a very welcome interruption however, because I was experiencing a very definite positive change in my right arm. The pins and needles feeling in my forearm had dramatically lessened. I tested my hand by rubbing my fingers together and could actually feel them for the first time in months. I was so excited that I could hardly fall back to sleep.Over the next few days, the remaining symptoms in my right arm and hand completely went away. At four weeks I started to get back into the gym. My nightlife also had a dramatic improvement because I was finally now able to get out to my dance clubs once again.I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Dr Jasper for helping me to get my life back. I have 100% pain relief and my recovery is now complete. Before & After Individual Experiences: Robert Burns My fishing hobby had been on hold for quite a while. My saltwater boat sat on her trailer because my back could not take the pounding of the bay or the ocean. The 14 footer that I use for lake fishing was also high and dry because I was unable to lift the car battery that powered her electric motor. I’m only 66 years old but I have spent the last 12 years severely limited in my activities because of excruciating back pain. The pain was constant across my right hip ending at the top of my right foot with a burning sensation. My left hip had intermittent pain that intensified depending upon the way that I moved. That pain ended at my left foot with a sharp sensation of pins and needles. Getting out of bed in the morning was a thirty minute ordeal of gradual movement until I was finally able to stand fully erect. Shaving required me to support my weight with my left forearm balanced on the edge of the sink while shaving with my right hand. I could no longer sit, stand or walk for any length of time and I knew that I was getting worse….. Ten years ago I tried a pain doctor that gave me two epidural steroid injections which did not help at all. I then went to an orthopedic surgeon who hospitalized me for ten days in traction. When this did not work he wanted to operate. Having heard many stories about failed back surgery, I was not going to allow anyone to cut my back. Fearing then that my only recourse was surgery, I spent the next ten years still in pain, hoping for some non-surgical breakthrough that would be able to fix my pain problem. A few weeks ago, while reading the paper, I happened to come across an ad from Dr Jasper . The article addressed the treatment of back pain without surgery. They encouraged people with pain problems to call their EDUCATIONAL DEPARTMENT to discuss the most current minimally invasive solutions to pain problems such as mine. Realizing that my situation was getting worse, I decided to give them a call. I had no trouble getting through to the office by phone. They informed me that the field of INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MEDICINE is a medical specialty dedicated to the non-surgical treatment of chronic pain problems such as mine. Their educational staff patiently explained the various new technologies available and sent an information packet that fully documented the procedures that they performed. After much discussion, my wife and I decided to go in for a consultation. DR. GABRIELE JASPER sat down with my wife and myself to review my history and to read my M.R.I. He then conducted a thorough physical examination and we went back into the consultation room to discuss his findings. DR. JASPER explained that their philosophy was to use the least invasive yet most effective method to treat my pain problem. He felt confident that although I had a complicated lower back with a lot of symptoms, the majority of my pain appeared to be coming from the lowest disc in my lumbar area . The disc had degenerated to the point where the nerves on the left side of it were very irritated. His recommended course of treatment was a procedure called CHEMONUCLEOLYSIS which is a way to revitalize the degenerated disc and calm down the inflamed nerve. He explained that the procedure was very safe with a high success rate. Because of the low risk, high gain factor, my wife and I agreed to move forward and have it done. The procedure was performed on June 28th.The morning of June 29th, not even a full day after the procedure, I was able to get out of bed pain free for the first time in twelve years. I just stood up without hesitation. I found this quite remarkable because I hadn’t been able to do this for a long, long time. No longer would I have to go through my thirty- minute ritual to get to a standing position. I went to the sink to shave and was able to stand upright in front of the mirror for the first time in twelve years. I cannot explain how it feels to finally have my life back.By the time I returned to the office for my one week follow-up visit, I was already 100% pain-free for six days and eager to become more active but cautious about doing too much. I didn’t want to do anything that might ruin the way that I was feeling, but I had been looking at my boats sitting on their trailers all week. At the end of my visit I finally asked DR. JASPER about increasing my activity level. He knew exactly what I meant and replied with a smile, "Time to go fishing". Before & After Individual Experiences: Alfred Koytek Before & After Individual Experiences: Jim Santiago I am a 58 year old retired physical education teacher (34 years ) who has always been very active. My interests are almost all physical and include working out and playing golf. Since retiring, my passion is to become a scratch golfer. In May of 2003, I injured my back quite badly during a golf match and had to stop all physical activity because of severe pain. In the 1970's during a weightlifting workout, I recall injuring my lower back doing squats and deadlifts with heavy weights. At that time with rest and inactivity, the pain subsided in a short period of time. This new injury was different. No matter what I did , the pain would not go away. I went to a chiropractor and endured six weeks of the D. R. S. System (traction treatments) which did not work. My family doctor then suggested trying a pain management physician because my M. R. I. suggested possible disc herniations in the lower back. After a series of four epidural steroid injections, my wife and I decided to go to Florida for three weeks for a much needed vacation. After all of these treatments, my back pain was still present, but this was our vacation and I was determined to at least try a round of golf. This proved to be a serious mistake because after nine holes, my back pain was so severe that I had to stop playing. That was the last golf game that I was able to play and my activities for the rest of our vacation were limited because of the intense pain in my lower back. When I returned to New Jersey, I happened to see an ad in the paper explaining a new, non-invasive procedure called COBLATION NUCLEOPLASTY that was up to 93% effective for the treatment of bulging, protruding or herniated discs. This procedure was performed by GABRIELE JASPER, M.D. on an out-patient basis with little or no recovery time. I had heard many horror stories about people having unsuccessful orthopedic surgery on their backs and I was determined to go the minimally- invasive route. I did not want to be opened up surgically, but I wanted to do some additional research on COBLATION NUCLEOPLASTY and Dr Jasper in order to insure my confidence in both the procedure and Dr. Jasper. The internet proved to be a great source of information and my wife and I were able to determine that the procedure was indeed extremely effective with almost no risk factors. We decided to set up a consultation with Dr Jasper to meet the staff. My evaluation was painless. The staff and DR. JASPER made us feel so comfortable about COBLATION technology that we decided to move foward and schedule the procedure. After meeting them, our confidence level in their expertise was at such a high level, my wife and I couldn’t wait to have the procedure done. The actual procedure took about twenty five minutes and because of not having general anesthesia, I was able to experience immediate pain relief. As I climbed off the table I noticed that the pain in my left lower side was completely gone. After months of debilitating pain I did not expect results this quickly. DR. JASPER explained that this is very common with COBLATION NUCLEOPLASTY . The herniation actually moves away from the neural structure that it is rubbing against and the pain oftentimes stops immediately. Within seven days I can honestly say that all my pain was completely gone. At this point all I can think about is golf and there are still seven more days until my two week follow-up visit. When I finally got in for the follow-up, the first thing that I asked was, "How much can I do and how quickly can I do it ?"DR. JASPER laughed and assured me that I would be back to my golf game before I knew it. I would just like to say that I am so glad that I saw the ad. Neither I nor my family physician would have ever found out about the availability of this technology. My own internet research and the comfort level that I felt after meeting with the staff allowed me to develop the confidence that I needed to have this procedure done. Now my energies are properly directed toward the pursuit of scratch golf instead of relief from back pain. Before & After Individual Experiences: Mark Pierce Due to a herniated disc in my neck, I have been experiencing numbness along with a pins and needles sensation in my left arm and hand for the past year. Sleeping has been difficult because of the pain. I would just like to let Dr. Jasper know that I am eleven days past my cervical coblation procedure and I am at least 75 to 80% pain free.I know that I’m not done healing yet, because every day I seem to feel just a little bit better. I obviously have no regrets traveling to see Dr Jasper all the way from New Paris, Ohio. My local family doctor, Dr. Scott Bosler and my local pain doctor, Dr. Raymond Wolf, both have a number of patients that they want to refer to Dr Jasper .Thank you all very much.<RULE GOES HERE>Individual Experiences: Douglas Keiles Individual Experiences: Tami Brashears, 42 I had lived with back pain for 10 years.Within the last six months the pain increased and went down my right arm to my wrist. It was discovered that I had a bulging disc between C5 and C6. I went through 30 days of physical therapy that did not work. I had 3 epidural shots in my neck that did not work. At this point I was sent to a neurosurgeon who wanted to do a disc fusion on my neck. I did a lot of research and found out that this is not always a "fix". Eventually one of the discs will herniate above or below the fusion. Fusion requires being cut in the front of the neck and 2 to 3 months recovery time. That was not a procedure that I wanted. I work with a guy that had a procedure done with Dr Jasper in New Jersey. He had a similar problem in his neck and flew to New Jersey to have a noninvasive procedure that worked. He gave me the information that he had about Dr Jasper. I contacted them and told them of my problem. After reading my MRI, they said that I would be a good candidate for the procedure. The procedure was Cervical Percuntaneous Discectomy. I drove to New Jersey hoping that this procedure would work. The actual procedure took only about 20 minutes. After it was over, I walked out of the office and drove home the next day.I had 2 days of no pain and then 3 days of pain. I was discouraged, but was reassured by Dr. Jasper that this was normal. The next week I had a few good days and a few bad days. I called the doctor again and he reassured me again that it could take a few weeks. The next week I had no pain or headaches and have continued to have NO pain. 100% recovery. I am so thankful to Dr Jasper that there is an alternative to disc fusion!! Before & After Individual Experiences: A.B. I have suffered with severe sciatica in both legs for the last three years because of two badly herniated discs in my lower back. The pain forced me to stop my daily two mile runs ,Krate lesson and anything physical. The pain had completely taken control on my life. Six weeks ago , Dr. Gabriele Jasper repaired two bad discs with a new non-surgical procedure called Hydrodiscectomy. Myself and two other patients were the first three people in the New York , New Jersey ,Philadelphia area to ever have this new procedure performed on them. Today is the sixth week after the procedure and I am happy to say that I’m already 75% better and still improving on a weekly basis. At three weeks my sciatica dissappeared for the first time in three long years and I resumed my walks for short, twenty minute peroids. I have felt so good that I have increased my walking time to 45 minutes a day covering two miles at a clip without any back pain at all. I would like to thank Dr Jasper and the Hydrocision Corporation for finally allowing me to look forward to a life without pain. Individual Experiences: L.O., 15, told by her mother One evening in January of 2003, my fifteen-year-old daughter L.O. and I decided to go out to the movies. I had no idea that this would prove to be a life-altering experience for her and our family. We are all movie enthusiasts and L.O. viewed new movie releases weekly with either myself, or with her friends. While approaching the concession stand that night, she didn’t see the puddle of spilled soda on the floor in front of the counter. L.O. took a nasty fall on a hard floor and severely injured her lower back.We immediately took her to our family doctor who asked her to rate her pain on a scale of 0 to10. L.O. claimed that her pain was an off-the-scale 15. Our doctor then set a course of conservative treatment that would span the next ten torturous months. Anti-inflammatory drugs were first prescribed along with painkillers that had little or no effect on L.O.’s pain. Her pain ratings remained off the scale. We then tried physical therapy for what seemed like an eternity, also without any significant reduction in her pain levels. They then suggested activity modification, which was silly because L.O. couldn’t do anything anyway. Our next approach was a series of four epidural steroid injections that regretfully, did not work at all.L.O. ’s life, at this point, had basically come to a full stop. The effect that her condition had on our family can best be described as profound. She was now almost completely bed-ridden with her pain. The occasional trip outside to a movie or the mall was made by wheelchair because she could no longer walk. She had to leave high school because she could not sit for prolonged periods of time in a classroom. With this, her friends stopped calling because she was never well enough to "go out". I can remember how important my social life was to my overall development during my teenage years. My friends were my life. L.O. was now almost completely isolated and becoming depressed. I then decided to quit my job so that I could remain home with her during the day. As her mother, I could no longer leave my only child alone all day in pain. This was where we made our first medical mistake. Our doctors now told us that conventional conservative treatments had been tried without success and surgical intervention was our only other option. Had we known about the advanced disc decompression procedure performed by Dr Jasper we would have pursued this highly effective, non-surgical approach for L.O. before open orthopedic surgery. We missed an entire segment of minimally-invasive medical procedures available through advanced Pain Interventionalists like Dr Jasper for the treatment of herniated discs because our doctors were uninformed.Ten months into this ordeal, in an act of desperation, L.O. had an open orthopedic surgical procedure performed on three levels of her lumbar spine called a microdiscectomy. Her pain was worse after her surgery. Additionally, it was determined that the partial disc removal at the lumbar 4/5 level had failed, further complicating the issue. Four months later, L.O. had her second surgery, which was a full open discectomy, on the lumbar 4/5 level. I am sorry to say that the second surgery didn’t work either. After ten months of unsuccessful conservative treatment and two failed surgeries over the next five months, we felt as though we had explored every option available within conventional modern medicine. The initial feelings of despair and hopelessness gave way to acceptance and we just decided to adjust. With this resignation came a certain understanding that we had to move on with our lives. This was the hand that was dealt to us. L.O. set her jaw and began to set goals for herself. Education was an important priority and she decided to finish high school. She worked around her disability and received her high school equivalency diploma before her seventeenth birthday. She still hurt too much to be able to drive a car but she was beginning to get on with her life. One evening, six months after L.O.’s last surgery, I read an article in the paper about . It described a procedure called Coblation Nucleoplasty that was very successful in the treatment of disc herniation anywhere on the spine. I called their Educational Department and requested information. The packet that I received a few days later contained well-documented information regarding the procedure. I shared the information with L.O. and we decided to visit Dr Jasper for an evaluation.During the consultation, Dr. Jasper suggested a diagnostic test called a discogram. This test would clearly show which discs were causing pain as well as which discs were still herniated. The discogram would provide all the information necessary to determine if L.O. would be a candidate for the Coblation Nucleoplasty procedure. Never having had this test before, we scheduled the discogram as quickly as possible. The discogram revealed extremely painful herniations at three levels of the lumbar spine and Dr. Jasper strongly felt that L.O. would benefit from a three level Coblation Nucleoplasty. The procedure was performed on October 14, 2004. L.O.’s pain was reduced from a maximal 10, or "15" as she claims, to a level of 3. Within one week after the procedure, she was relatively pain free and walking around as though nothing had happened over the last 20 months. We are extremely thankful for finding Dr Jasper and strongly suggest that anyone seeking a correct diagnosis for their spinal pain problem visit these people for an evaluation. Call their Educational Department to inform yourself of the most recent developments in minimally-invasive spinal care. L.O. has just recently enrolled at the Sanford Brown Institute and hopes to pursue a career in medical billing and coding. 5 years ago my car was rear ended and crushed into a tree by an 18 wheeler. Somehow I survived with 25 broken bones, Years of weight lifting and law enforcement duties probably spared my life. But the trauma caused a brutal pain syndrome called RSD. After 5 years of heavy pain killers and nerve blocks the ravaging pain continued and I decided Christmas 2005 would be my last. A chance meeting with Dr Jasper at the gym resulted in the doctor, a skilled surgeon implanting a spinal cord stimulator. It worked and now I say, Dr Jasper, He gave me my life back. Peter H. |
